What happens next?

I’ll take time to write your story. I’ll take a walk. In the woods or by the shore.
I like to connect via the elements, and I like to use the cards outside when I can. I’ll sit (by the fire or in the dappled sunshine) and I’ll prepare the cards for you.
The cards are cleansed and bathed in the elements.
I shuffle and split three times for each of your readings. And each time, I lay them out on black cotton and let your story come. I catch it.
And I’ll write it.
I’ll photograph your spreads and I’ll create your illustrated script.
Illuminating, personal, provocative. It’ll be frank, kind and empowering.
All you need to do is find a quiet moment. And read.

How do you make a connection with me?

Your energy is in the elements. It’s carried in the air and the water. It’s grounded in the earth. And it’s fuelled by the fire. We are all connected by the elements.
We are made of them.
We feel the same sun on our face, that same fire. We’re drenched by the same water, we breathe the same air and walk the same earth.
And we share the same elements of humanity. The spirit, the heart, the mind, the body.
The tarot is made of these elements too. The elements of nature. Fire, water, air and earth. Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles.
We connect via the elements.
Light a candle, sit by a fire, seek out the sun. Breath fresh air, feel the wind in your hair, open a window. Swim, bathe, feel the rain on your face. Walk in the woods, write your name in the sand, climb a hill, cook from nature.
Though we never meet, we are never parted. I read your story as if we are sat at the same table.
We are connected, you and I.

Should I ask a question of the cards?

Only if you want to.
But the Tarot Story doesn’t need a question to get it started. In a standard reading you might ask a question and a tarot reader would turn over cards to answer it.
The Tarot Story doesn’t work like that. The elements exist along with any questions you might have. The story reflects your energy. Think of it more like a wellness session than a doctor.

Where does my story’s meaning come from?

You.
It’s a pure demonstration of the elements and their message. I’m reading your elements.
I use the tarot to channel your energy.
The elements connect our inner being with the world around us. They are alive and ever changing.
So the true power of the story is yours; the relationships, the patterns, the flows. The paths that the story follows are yours: internal and external, past, present and possible, conscious and subconscious.

Where does the Tarot’s meaning come from?

Where do you think it comes from?
Do the cards harness a great cosmic, universal power?
Or is it just the power of stories?
Are they fed by a spiritual essence?
Do they tap into our collective consciousness?
Are they a projection of your subconscious?
Or maybe the Tarot is an energy we don’t fully understand?
It’s not my place to tell you what to believe. But I know that they can help create new a state of mind – find peace, reflection, perspective and resolution.

Who is Mister Morgan?

I live by the sea in easternmost England, where the sun rises over the water and Scout likes to play in the waves.
I read tarot cards for myself, my friends and family, and have done since I was taught by a witch in a artist’s commune in the hills near Lucca.
I’m named after a witch myself. Morgan, the queen of Avalon. Like so many female legends her reputation has had a bit of a rough time over the centuries, but ultimately she remained Arthur’s saviour. I’ll stick with that association.
As far as my own witchy-ness goes I don’t pretend to have any greater power than anyone else on this planet.
And I’m not here to promote my spirituality.
I’m here to read your cards. To connect with your elements.
To reveal your truth. Whatever it might be.
I’m just your storyteller.

Isn’t it all just fortune telling?

I don’t believe in fortune telling. I don’t believe that our future is fated or that you can predict it just by turning over a card. I would never tell you that the Tarot will predict the winner of a race or the outcome of an event. That’s not how it works.
The Tarot is a way of accessing ourselves. It has an authority that comes from within. It’s in the elements.
I’ve read cards thousands of times and each time they tell the questioner something they’ve valued. It can feel spooky. It can seem uncanny. But we don’t have to make any crazy claims to make it work.
The Tarot challenges assumptions and unseats habits. It provokes new ways, finds different perspectives, reveals new truths.
The Tarot tells your story. Like all good stories, it creates pictures and patterns. And patterns make us think. When I tell your Tarot Story you’ll feel it too. You can’t help it. It’s a story about you.
The Tarot is wonderful. It makes you wonder.

Why a written story?

I’m happy to read your tarot face to face. I love talking through a tarot spread. And all the same insight is still at the heart of what I do. I simply realised that it might be useful to write it into a story. Why? Well…
You can spend as much time with it as you like,
You can come back to it as much as you want,
You can savour the detail and the meaning,
You don’t have to schedule it in your diary,
You don’t have to talk to a stranger,
You can read it anywhere,
You don’t have to visit anyone,
You don’t need a private place for a video call,
You can show it to your best friend,
Or you can keep it to yourself,
Over time, you can compare it with previous ones,
And you can have a nice cup of tea as you read it.

Why Mister Morgan?

I’ll give you a unique perspective.
I follow a fundamentally elemental tradition. Its roots are in the spiritual and philosophical beliefs of ancient times. Early pagan religions worshiped the world around them. Peoples as diverse as the Buddhists in India, Bakongo in Africa, Godai in Japan and Plato and the Hellenistic philosophers all defined these forces as the elements we know today.
And they knew that the fundamental substance of the world was also the raw material of human nature. For the psychologists among us, these theories still underpin Carl Jung’s psychological types. And they still lie at the heart of psychological testing like the Myers Briggs system. Feeling, thinking, intuition, and sensation are water, air, fire, and earth.
My understanding is not simply based on the cards, but on the foundation behind them. The elements. And it’s the balance of the elements, and their relationships in your life that make my reading different. I read your story not just from the cards but from the world around us. The cards are simply a channel for the forces that the elements exert on us every day.
My understanding is raw, natural and human. It is unhurried and considered. What I write is all about you, and it comes from our connection. Our elements.
I think that’s a form of spirituality that’s rare in the ‘excitement’ of Tarot. Storytelling my own way. Calmly and assuredly.
It’s earthy. It’s human. Down-to-earth, frank, intelligent, kind, passionate, inspired.
You won’t get this kind of story anywhere else.
